People – Watch + Reflection + Story

People watch

I was at makan place after school with some of my classmates. We were sitting at a table opposite her. I find her quite interesting and then decided to observe her. When she entered the makan place, she was with a group of friends. She was kind of noisy and busy chatting away. She was like a centre of attraction with her friends. Not long later, her friends left her. She was now alone. She took out her hand phone and called her friend. After she put down her phone. She took out her book and read. After reading for like fifteen minutes or so, she closed her book, put it into her bag and left makan place.

I took bus 74 from school, and as the bus was super packed, even though it’s a double decked bus, there were not much seats left. Thus, I sat at the front of the bus, the nearest to the bus driver.

I decided to observe this bus driver because I find him quite interesting. He is very cautious of the passengers boarding the bus and also he is very strict with the amount of bus fares commuters pay, when they pay by coins.  Whenever each passenger boarded the bus he will stare at them and look carefully if they did scan their card. Also, if the passengers were paying by coins, he asked and made sure they pay the correct fare. He would ask for the exact destination they want to go too and check to see if they put in the amount of coin into the box correctly.

There was once, a lady boarded the bus and paid coins. She gave ten cents lesser and the bus driver made noise about it asking her to come back and pay ten cents. Also, there were a few passengers whom he randomly checked their ez link card to see if they were using the correct ez link card. He checked mainly on students. I have no idea why, but I guess he just wants to make sure everyone uses the correct concession types. Example would be of a jc girl whom he decided to check her ez link card. She boarded the bus and she tapped her card. The bus driver asked her for her ez link card and checked to see if the photo on the ez link card matches with her face. She was puzzled because she was wearing school uniform and she was thinking how could she possibly pay the wrong fare. Lastly, the driver decided to check on another student’s ez link card. He also had no idea why and shouted shouted back at him, but the bus driver did not say a word, then he let the boy off.

Reflection

Basically, my reflection is about people watch and school. For me, it isn’t so difficult as it seems to be. I did the people watch assignment within one day. I love observing people especially whenever I am feeling bored in the bus, train or waiting for my friend. I feel that observing someone can be very interesting. You get to see all their little movements and some stuff they do which can be quite embarrassing to them.

It’s been four weeks since school started and the week is already going to end. It is going to be week 5 soon and 3 more weeks would be our term holiday already. Also, as every week goes by, it gets busier and busier and busier with more and more assignments and projects coming up. Initially, I really had difficulty coping with the many assignments given daily. But now, as time slowly goes by, I am getting used to poly life and all it’s assignments already. I have just started to enjoy poly life better and better as time goes.

Also, I am getting very used to coming to school on time. I have been late for most lessons for my first two weeks of school. But I slowly adjusted my timings and I managed to come early for lessons.

I believe time will past faster and faster and year 1 will past off very soon. After that would be year 2 and there after it would be year three. Thus, I have to enjoy and appreciate poly life and the course I am in now.

Lastly, I have lots of imagination and I love to dream alot, but I do not know how to express them down on words and paper. I hope Miss Phuah would be able to understand me. Thanks.

Story

The guy whose in his mid 30s, his name is John and the guy whose between 16 – 20 his name is Jasen.

Today is John’s daughter birthday, his family decided to celebrate it at Longhouse hawker centre, as his daughter likes the food they have over there. After John finished eating with his family members. He went to meet his friends at Marina Square to chill and for a game of pool. While Jasen is already at Marina Square, playing pool with his friends.  John reached the meeting venue where he was supposed to meet his friends, when all of them had arrived, they went in and booked a table and to begin playing. The pool table they were assigned to happen to be beside Jasen and his friend’s table. Jasen had a number of his friends before it’s his turn to play. While waiting for his turn, Jasen and another of his friend Jeremy were playing their play station portable also known as PSP. They were playing excitingly and were very engross with their game they were playing. Whenever one wins, he would shout, scream and jump for joy. But whenever one loses, he would scold a vulgarity and make all sorts of noises. As John was deeply concentrating on his game trying hard to plan his shots for his next turn, he was pissed off with the noise Jasen and his friend Jeremy were making.  He was trying his best to tolerate it, but they went off their limits and their noise level keeps going higher and higher. John could no longer tolerate it, he then decided to go up to Jasen and tell him to keep his volume down. After John told Jasen to keep his volume down. Jasen felt offended and quite unhappy about it, he argued back at John. After that he told his group of friends what John had said to him. Jasen and his friends stared at John and they also kept talking and cursing behind his back. Jasen’s friends knows that he is very skilled at playing pool and even went for many competitions representing their school, they told Jasen to ask John to take up the challenge. Jasen agreed, he walked up confidently to John and asked him for a challenge. John agreed and then the challenge began. Two groups were starring eye to eye at both John and Jasen and where the pool ball would land up too. They also were starring at one another as if they were some enemy from the past and want to settle their score. They had three rounds of game to be fair.  At the first round, Jasen won. He felt very happy and was very confident that he will win again for another two rounds. He was being too over confident that he did not win the second round. Jasen started to lose a little of his confidence already. He feels that if he loses, he would be letting his friends down. He tried his very best to win for the third round, the last round was very intense. Both John and Jasen seems to be very serious, focused and started showing off whatever skills they had. At first, it looks like Jasen was leading ahead and was about to win, it was because he accidentally hit the ball wrongly, and had a foul for it. It was John’s turn then. John had two turns as Jasen had a foul. Fortunately, John was able to kill all the balls accept the black ball within the two turns he was given. But, unfortunately, he missed the black ball. It was then Jasen’s turn. They had each had many rounds to hit the black ball in. As each of them hit the black ball, it seems that the black ball was going in. But then it did not. Eventually, Jasen hit the black ball, it slowly rolled into the hole. Jasen jumped for joy with full confidence not realizing that the white ball actually followed behind and went into the hole. It means that John wins. Jasen feeling very upset and disappointed he walked away without any word being said. John walked up to Jasen and approaches him. He encouraged Jasen that his skills were actually not bad and were quite up to standard. It was just a minor move that causes him to lose. John then gave Jasen his name card and told him he is a pool coach. He also told Jasen he would gladly give him free lessons, if he is willing to learn from him. Jasen felt guilty about what he had done and kept apologizing to him about what had happened and also was very grateful to him despite being so mean to John, John still went up and approach him and also giving him free lessons for pool. Both Jasen and John’s friends were stunned and kept asking them what both of them had said to each other. Both replied that it was a secret between them. They went off happily and peacefully without having any scores unsettled.
